FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below are some of our most common questions regarding seat measurements.

What are the new seat measurements?

The measurements for Pant Seat and Coat Seat have been separated into two independent measurements to give you more control and flexibility.

As a result, Coat Seat has now replaced Pant Seat as the required measurement to order a jacket.

Why is a separate Coat Seat measurement now being incorporated?

The Pant Seat and Coat Seat have been tied together in our system for some time. We separated the two to give you more control and flexibility to increase or decrease the coat seat without impacting the Pant Seat measurement.

What is the Coat Seat measurement?

This is a Skin Measurement, but does not have to equal the measurement input for Pant Skin Seat. This will give you greater flexibility in controlling the coat skirt without changing the Pant Seat.

Where did my existing coat seat measurement go?

For existing clients, the Coat Seat for all measurement profiles will be auto populated with the existing Pant Seat measurement, but now can be adjusted independently of the Pant Seat.

When would the coat seat be different than the pant seat?

There are times that you may want the coat skirt larger or smaller than what you would get by just using the pant seat. For example:

  • A client is wearing their clothing slimmer and wants a smaller coat seat.

  • A client’s shape is causing the coat skirt to pull open and increasing the coat seat will help clean up the look of the coat skirt.

If you would like the coat seat a little trimmer or larger then you would manipulate the measurement up or down to achieve the desired result.

If you are happy with the way things are fitting then use the same number in both.

How does this impact topcoats and car coats?

It’s the same with outerwear as it is with a sport coat (CSC).

What effect is gained by adjusting the Coat Seat vs. the Coat Skirt alteration?

The Coat Seat measurement will reduce/increase the entirety of the coat’s seat by altering the garment through the side seams, thereby maintaining the standard balance of the garment. The Coat Skirt alteration adjusts the coat’s front panels in the seat area, while ignoring the side body and back panels. As a result, it is advantageous if trying to adjust the coat seat area’s balance.
